Obama, Last Election Behind Him, Plans First Visit as President to Kenya

WASHINGTON — For years, Kenya has been a political headache for President Obama and a geopolitical headache for the United States. But now in his seventh year in office, with his last election behind him, Mr. Obama has decided to embrace his heritage by visiting the land of his father for the first time as president.
Mr. Obama will travel to Kenya in July to co-host a forum on entrepreneurship as part of an effort to support economic development in Africa, the White House announced Monday. In the process, the president may hope to exorcise some of the ghosts that have haunted his relationship with his family’s home country — so much that he once felt obliged to produce a birth certificate to prove he was not born there.
Until now, Mr. Obama has resolutely avoided stopping in Kenya while in office, bypassing it during three previous presidential trips to sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to the chattering such a stop would presumably provoke among those who still refuse to believe he was born in the United States, the idea of a visit to Kenya was also problematic on the diplomatic front because of political instability and charges of crimes against humanity lodged against that country’s president.
Now, the case against the president, Uhuru Kenyatta, has been dropped, and the perennial talk about Mr. Obama’s birth has faded in the United States. So Mr. Obama seems to have concluded that a Kenya trip is acceptable at home and abroad.
As the White House announced the visit, it tried to present it as a powerful symbol of America’s longstanding ties to Africa as represented by its African-American president.
“Just as President Kennedy’s historic visit to Ireland in 1963 celebrated the connections between Irish-Americans and their forefathers, President Obama’s trip will honor the strong historical ties between the United States and Kenya — and all of Africa — from the millions of Americans who trace their ancestry to the African continent,” two national security aides to Mr. Obama, Grant Harris and Shannon Green, wrote on the White House website.
Mr. Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., was a Kenyan who came to the United States to study. While at the University of Hawaii, he met and married Stanley Ann Dunham, and the two had a son. The elder Mr. Obama returned to Kenya, and the two divorced; the younger Mr. Obama met his father only once after that, when he was 10 years old.
The future president visited Kenya as a young man, a journey chronicled in his evocative 1995 memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” and he went again in 2006 as a senator. But Mr. Obama has remained largely distant from his Kenyan relatives in office and the White House could not say yet whether he would visit family during his trip.
The connection to Kenya has long fueled unfounded rumors that Mr. Obama was not born in Hawaii, despite the birth certificate he obtained from the state in 2011. As recently as December, a poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University found that nearly one in five Americans believe that Mr. Obama is probably or definitely not a United States citizen.
At the annual Gridiron Dinner in Washington this month, he teased those who question his patriotism.
“If I did not love America, I wouldn’t have moved here from Kenya,” he joked.
While many Kenyans have been upset that Mr. Obama has stayed away, the country has experienced turbulence in recent years that made it harder for him to visit.
Mr. Kenyatta, the Kenyan president, was charged in 2011 with instigating and financing ethnic clashes after disputed elections in 2007 that cost more than 1,200 lives and forced 600,000 from their homes. The first sitting president to appear before the International Criminal Court, Mr. Kenyatta denied the charges and the case was dropped in December after prosecutors could not produce enough evidence.
Since a terrorist attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi in 2013, for which the Shabab, a Somali militant group, claimed responsibility, Kenya’s government has expanded efforts to counter violent extremism. But it has also passed laws restricting nongovernmental organizations operating there, in the name of security, and critics say the country’s Muslims have been targeted in the zeal to combat the Shabab.
“What really makes it difficult for us is that, yes, we are victims of terrorism, but then we are also victims of counterterrorism,” Hussein Khalid, executive director of Haki Africa, a human rights group, told a congressional hearing in Washington last week. “In Kenya,” he added, “once you’re a suspect of any terror attack, there is no innocent until proven guilty. Once you’re a suspect, you have to count your days. Your days are numbered. Sooner or later, we find you dead somewhere.”
White House officials said that Mr. Obama would address human rights issues during his visit. But they emphasized the progress Kenya has made, to be highlighted at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit meeting, the first time the six-year-old forum, founded by Mr. Obama, will be held in sub-Saharan Africa.
“Choosing Kenya as the destination for G.E.S. underscores the fact that Africa, and Kenya in particular, has become a center for innovation and entrepreneurship,” Mr. Harris and Ms. Green wrote.

Jim Iyke Is Not The Father Of Nadia Buari's twins. So Who Is? lets find out.

Reports recently surfaced online that pretty Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari had delivered a set of twin girls.
While many have been wondering who the baby daddy is, others have been speculating Jim Iyke, who has been romantically linked to the actress might be the father of twins.
New report surfacing from a Ghanaian site, Ghanaspy seem to debunk the rumours that Jim Iyke is the father of the twins, while insisting that the duo broke up not long after Jim proposed to Nadia last year in one of the episodes of his reality TV show, Jim Iyke Unscripted.
According to the reports, Nadia has a fiance who is currently with her in Atlanta and he is the father of the twins.

Vanessa Gyan, who hosts the Late Nite Celebrity Show on e.TV, confirmed that Nadia and Jim Iyke broke up about 11 months ago briefly after he proposed.
She said Nadia is currently engaged to the father of her twins, adding that she gave birth in the presence

of her mother and brother in a hospital in Atlanta, with her fiancé showing up later.
She further disclosed that Nadia and the ‘baby daddy’ attended University together.
Another friend who spoke with Ghanacelebrities.com said “Jim is not the father of those twins. Who wants to have a baby with this unstable douche bag, not the Nadia Buari I know.

The relationship between Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari seem to be very complicated and has often sparked controversies.
Though they kept denying that they were in a romantic relationship, claiming to be just best friends, they both continued to spend quality time together. They were both spotted on romantic dates. Jim Iyke even took her on a world tour for her birthday in 2013.

Who give you belly? Abuja lady claims she is pregnant for Davido

Few days after Davido accused a fan on Twitter that his other talent, apart from music, is love making, the OBO crooner has been in the news for allegedly impregnating an older lover in AbujaAccording to a report, Davido and his Abuja based university drop-out, Sophie, started their relationship last year July when she was offered as an escort for the night during one of his trips to Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The affair between Belladonna, as she is popularly known and the young artist blossomed around early September 2014 even though his HKN gang were against it.
The report says: ‘Belladona is known as a big time runs girl in the whole of Abuja, she and her friends Harriet and Rockxy have practically slept with virtually all the big boys and politicians in Abuja, so the HKN crew know her story and can never be happy especially now that she is claiming to be pregnant for Davido.’

A member of Davido’s team who agreed to speak with NET on condition of secrecy, said: ‘People like to talk; the fact that the girl is pregnant doesn’t mean that Davido is the one responsible. Anyway, we both know it’s not today that we’ve been having all this pregnancy allegations for Davido.”
When asked if Davido really knows the lady in question and has had any sexual relationship with her, the source went on to say: ‘The truth is Davido sure knows the girl, but they are not as close as they used to be. So I really can’t tell, and if she comes tomorrow and says Davido is the father of her baby or Davido got her pregnant, then we’ll request for a DNA test.’

There Ain't No Show Drake Fans Scammed I'M NO FAKE ... But These Shows Are.

Drake will be performing in 8 cities beginning in May ... sounds awesome, except we found out it's a scam.  A promoter is advertising the tour ... but not with Drake's permission. The rapper is NOT performing at any of the venues this spring and is asking his fans to call the cops if they got duped into buying tickets.
The scam is no small potatoes ... we're told in Miami and Houston, ticket prices are upwards of $350 a pop and people are falling for it.
We're told Drake and his team have no idea who the promoter is, but they're definitely on the hunt and out for blood.

How Does His Brain Work? Here's What a Neuroscientist Said About Eminem’s Brain

On the music industry, Eminem has indeed made a Great name for himself. He has won several awards and we know him currently as the Rap God but how does this Rap genius make it all happen? how does his Brain work? He may not have known this when he wrote it, but his line about getting along with the voices inside his head is strangely apt. According to psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman, the brains of creative geniuses and people with schizophrenia are similar in surprising ways. They both have an extremely active precuneus, or area that facilitates daydreaming and free association. The only difference is that unlike people with schizophrenia (and Stan), creative geniuses can distinguish between fantasy and reality.
On Sunday, as part of the 92nd Street Y's Seven Days of Genius series, Kaufman, along with neuroscientist Heather Berlin and science rapper Baba Brinkman, discussed the neuroscience of creativity. During the discussion, they explained a bit about what happens in, say, Eminem's brain when he freestyles versus when he raps from memory.
Here are some highlights:
On genius and consistency:
Kaufman:
"It’s a great myth that creative geniuses are always consistently geniuses. A lot of creative geniuses are good marketers and high in narcissism, so it can allow them to appear as though they don't have to work hard at all. But lots of aspects of the creative process resemble what everyday people go through when they’re trying to be creative."
On being a screw-up:
Kaufman
: "It is important to take risks. Most of Thomas Edison's stuff is really crap. He actually had in his generation some of the worst ideas; he just happened to have one or two things that were the best of all time. So it’s okay to have lots of horrible stuff if you can eventually get it together."
On Marshall Mathers:
Berlin
: "He probably has more advanced connections in terms of his language areas. Over time, when you practice something, a cognitive skill or a motor skill, you’re developing connections in the brain. So I’m sure his brain would look slightly different."
Kaufman
: "I would predict that his dorsolateral prefrontal cortex might be smaller than average. That’s the area of the brain that filters curse words."
On rappers' creative states:
Berlin
: "The medial prefrontal cortex has increased activation when they're improvising compared to doing a memorized rap, which has to do with the internal generation of new ideas. There's decreased activation in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, which has to do with your sense of self. When that part turns down, you lose the filter that makes sure you conform to social norms, which allows for the free flow of information. That can be a really good thing, because on stage consciousness can get in the way."
